  33.    IV.  INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

  35.         1.  Start Windows 3.1.
  36.  
  37.         2.  From the Main window, select the Control Panel.
  38.  
  39.         3.  At the Control Panel, select Printers.  The Printers dialog
  40.             box is displayed.  Select the Add button.
  41.  
  42.         4.  The List of Printers field is displayed.  Highlight "Install
  43.             Unlisted or Updated Printer" and select the Install button.
  44.  
  45.         5.  The Install Driver dialog box will appear.  If the new driver
  46.             files are on a diskette, insert this diskette in the a: drive.
  47.             If the new driver files are on your hard drive, enter the drive
  48.             and path (example - c:\(path)) where they are located.  Select OK.
  49.  
  50.         6.  The Add Unlisted or Updated Printers dialog box will appear with
  51.             four IBM 4039 LaserPrinter models listed.  Highlight your model
  52.             and select OK.
  53.  
  54.             If the IBM 4039 Print Accelerator was previously installed, you
  55.             will be asked which port connection you want to use.  Select the
  56.             Current button.

  63.         7.  "IBM 4039-mmm Print Accelerator" will show up on the Installed
  64.             Printers list (mmm represents the model number, ie 16L).
  65.             Highlight it and select the Connect button.
  66.  
  67.         8.  At the Connect dialog box, highlight the appropriate printer
  68.             port (normally LPT1:) and select the OK button.  You will
  69.             return to the Printers dialog box.
  70.  
  71.         9.  If you wish to make your IBM 4039 LaserPrinter the currently
  72.             active printer, select the Set As Default Printer button.
  73.  
  74.        10.  Select the Close button to return to the Control Panel.  If the
  75.             driver had been previously installed then Installation of the
  76.             updated IBM 4039 LaserPrinter Print Accelerator driver is complete.
  77.             If this is the original install then go to the next step.

  79.        11.  Note!  Before proceeding with this step, it is recommended that
  80.             you make a backup copy of the System.ini file in case an error
  81.             is made in the following edit process.

  83.             Add "device=LEX01.386" to the [386Enh] section of the System.ini
  84.             file.  To do this, use an editor and open the System.ini file.  Go
  85.             to the [386Enh] section and add "device=LEX01.386".  Save the
  86.             edited System.ini file.  Windows must me re-started for this
  87.             change to take effect.  The installation is now complete.
